DOWNLOAD SOCIAL STUDIES FAIR ENTRY FORM

The District-Level Social Science Fair will take place on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Massie Heritage CenterEach school may enter one project for every ten projects entered at the school fair.  For example, if there were 50 projects in your school fair, you may enter 5 projects in the District Fair at Massie.  Projects should be delivered to Massie no later than 12:00 noon on Monday, February 1 and will be judged on Wednesday, February 3, 2010.  The Awards Ceremony will take place at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, February 3 at Massie.  Projects should be taken home immediately after the ceremony.

We strongly encourage the participation of all students in grades 5, 7, and 9-12.  The Social Science Fair is an opportunity for students to engage in the research process and demonstrate their understanding by a project, showing the process and conclusions.   Students will demonstrate what they have learned by showing the results of their investigations in both a research paper and project board, also known as a performance-based assessment.

All schools are required to submit the names of the students and projects that we will be entered at the District Fair.  Please used the on the attached form.

The Regional Competition will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.  The number of entries at the District Fair and prizes awarded will determine which projects will be eligible to compete at the Regional Fair.  It is the responsibility of the parent to take the student and his/her project to Statesboro on Saturday, March 6, 2010.

Please refer to the 2009 Social Science Fair Manual at www.gcss.net for specific guidelines which will apply to all levels of competition.
