About School Nutrition Program: Meal Prices

Attention: New Meal Prices

The Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education's School Nutrition Department prides itself as a leader among school districts within the state of Georgia, striving to be a step above the rest.

The department is headed by Altheria Y. Maynard.  Under her leadership are three Coordinators, Danielle Freeman, Alvernia Wilson-Jackson, and Kimberly Kinsaul. The Coordinators supervise the School Nutrition Managers and Supervisors at 48 school sites. Currently the program employs approximately 315 employees. The Administrative staff of twelve within the program is housed at the Central Office, located at 208 Bull Street, Suite 308. You may reach us at the Central Office at (912) 201-5548 or (912) 201-7638.

The School Nutrition Program is not supported by the general fund of the district and is a revenue-generating cost center. We offer breakfast and lunch at all sites under the Federal Child Nutrition Guidelines. Parents may submit meal applications to qualify for free and reduced priced lunches. New Prices for 2008-09 school year: The cost for breakfast is $.30 for reduced meals and $.80 for full priced meals. The cost for lunch is $.40 for reduced meals and $1.75 for full priced meals. Extra milk is $.55. We accept prepayments. Adult meals are available at the price of $1.50 for breakfast and $2.85 for lunch. If you are unable to provide your child money for a meal, we will not allow your child to go hungry. We will offer them a nutritious meal for breakfast and lunch.

Applications for school meals are processed at the Central Office. The application process is computerized, resulting in a prompt turn-around for a decision regarding your child's application status. Applications will be available in early August.
