Three Coastal Middle School students (in photo from l to r): Patrick Glenn, Jharrayne McKnight and Tamar Nowell, participated in the 45th Annual Technology Student Association’s State Conference in Perry, GA this past weekend. Two of those students, Patrick Glenn and Jharrayne McKnight brought home first place in the problem solving competition.
Georgia’s TSA’s annual program of leadership development and competitive events provide students opportunities beyond the traditional classroom/laboratory setting which add the aptitudes, interests and educational needs of TSA members. During the conference, the three Coastal Middle School students along with other TSA members from around Georgia competed in several events from structural engineering to dragster design. Such events are normally taken back by the students and/or advisors to be used as learning activities in technology education classes.
In addition to being participants in the conference, all three students represented the Coastal Technology Student Association chapter as voting delegates for the 2007-2008 state officers’ election.
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national organization for elementary, middle and high school students who are presently enrolled in or have completed technology education classes at any school in Georgia. For more information, visit their website at www.gatsa.org.
