SCCPSS Performing Arts Ensembles Receive Superior Performance Evaluations from the Georgia Music Educators Association

Click here for a Microsoft Word version of this press release

The 2007 Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) recently conducted the District #1 performance evaluations for band ensembles across the state.  Seven SCCPSS middle and high school bands, orchestra and choirs received superior ratings.

The Superior Rating is the highest score that an ensemble can receive. This is an indicator of the highest student achievement in musical performance.

Superior denotes outstanding performance and worthy of the distinction of being recognized among the very best.  The ratings are judged by a group of three expert music teachers in a particular area.  Another judge evaluates the ensembles as they read and perform new music.

Among the outstanding ensembles, Shuman Middle School, earned a superior rating for their band, choir and orchestra.
