Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Education for A.L.L. (A Lifetime of Learning) Foundation received its very first donation at yesterday’s Board Meeting.
The Savannah Fund of Excellence in Education generously presented the school system with a $10,000 check to help provide additional funding to supplement tax-based resources.
The Education for A.L.L. Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) entity that will offer scholarship opportunities to students, teachers and prospective teachers; provide teacher mini-grant opportunities to assist school programs/projects with the funding necessary to purchase resources which will enhance educational enrichment; support the development of enrichment and cultural activities and implement morale building initiatives.
Known as the Excellence Fund, the organization was formed in early 2002 as a community foundation built on the common goals of parents, business leaders, educators and non-profit organizations. In recent months, the Excellence Fund and its leadership have reached out to the school system and formed productive working relationships. The Excellence Fund has continued to make Excellence Grants available to teachers numbering between eight and fifteen $2,000 grants per year from 2003 through 2005.
