On Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., Waste Management officials will join faculty, staff and other SCCPSS representatives at Haven Elementary, 5111 Dillon Avenue for a press conference where they will present the school a $10,000 check for environmental initiatives.
With the assistance from Waste Management, the school will rehabilitate the school’s existing outdoor classroom and add a greenhouse, pond and butterfly garden. The school also plans to have a full academic program for the facility in place within a year.
“Obviously, we’re extremely grateful for this investment by Waste Management,” says Principal Megan Kicklighter. “Most people would not be able to imagine the extent to which such a facility affects students, families and the entire Haven Elementary community!”
“Education and the environment are Waste Management’s most important community priorities, and this project combines both of them in a novel way,” says District Manager Robby White. “We’re really proud to have a role in enhancing the environmental education Haven Elementary has afforded its students.”
Waste Management is the leading provider of comprehensive waste management services in North America.
