SCCPSS' Office of Professional Learning Hosts THRIVE! May Celebration 2007

Click here for Microsoft Word version of this press release

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is celebrating the accomplishments of our new teachers!  On Friday, May 18, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., more than three hundred (300) novice teachers will have successfully completed THRIVE!, a comprehensive teacher support program held throughout the year by the district, and will have positively impacted thousands of students!

The celebration will be a time of reflection on the 2006 - 2007 school year.  Freshman teachers will share thoughts regarding their growth throughout the school year and visual displays of student work will be presented gallery-style to showcase the implementation of effective teaching strategies.  The new teacher cadre will also have a few humorous surprises for the new educators.

Superintendent, Dr. Thomas Lockamy and 2007 Teacher of the Year, Lolisa Boleman will be on hand to address the crowd.  School Board Members and other district representatives will also be there to join in on the celebration and offer words of encouragement.   In addition, a new collaboration with Armstrong Atlantic State University will be announced!

The celebration will take place at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm Street.  For more information, contact the Office of Professional Learning at 201-5573.
