Lacey Stringer, a senior at Groves High School and a student in the Early Childhood Education program at Woodville Tompkins Technology Career Institute, competed in the FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference in the Early Childhood Education category.
Winners were awarded a gold star, silver star, or bronze star. Lacey received a silver star for her activity based on the theme “Summer Fun.” Lacey read “100 Hungry Ant” and took her “students” on a picnic. Judges commented on how much fun her bug sorting activity was and that she would make a very effective pre-school teacher.
At the regional competition, Lacey Stringer won a gold star for her project which required her to prepare a lesson plan, create a developmentally appropriate activity, and present the activity to a panel of judges.
