At the Region 8 STAR banquet held at Georgia Southern University, Kenneth Wheeler Allen, Chatham County’s 2008 STAR Student was named Region 8 STAR Student. 

The Savannah Arts Academy senior, once again, tied with David Joseph Jilk from Savannah Country Day School for the Region 8 honor. They will advance to the state level and compete against other regional winners for the state STAR Student award on April 30, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Kenneth selected Mrs. Sheila Lamb-Lindblad, Gifted Program Specialist/Teacher at West Chatham Middle School as his STAR Teacher.

As a STAR Student, Kenneth and his teacher will be honored by his school and receive special recognition in the community from several civic organizations and businesses that support the program.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Education.
