Four Coastal Middle School teachers have been working for several months within their school and home communities to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Vanessa Routh, Alicia Harvey, Molly Axlesson and Karin Best have raised $10,000 through various fundraisers including Spare Change Day and the Wearing of the Green on St. Patrick’s Day where students were able to donate a dollar to wear green.
The teachers have been training since November, running and walking five times a week to participate in the Country Music Marathon on April 26th in Nashville. Routh, Harvey and Axlesson will run the half marathon. Best will run the full marathon. They are running in honor of Best’s husband, Mark, who has been battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma since 2006.
