Students from two SCCPSS schools are being honored by the U.S. Postal Service. They participated in a Black History Month essay contest on who they thought should be on a postage stamp. The winners are: Immanuel Davis, a third grader from Hodge Elementary School for his essay on Dr. Barbara Ross Lee. Natalie Pearson, a fourth grader at May Howard Elementary School for her essay on Rosa Parks. Walter Davis won the fifth grade division for his essay on Dr. Mark Dean .
All three students were honored today with a certificate and a sheet of stamps featuring their picture. Walter and Immanuel, who are also brothers, received their awards at a special assembly at Hodge. Natalie was also presented with her award this morning at May Howard.
