Three Woodville-Tompkins students earned first place honors, one took second place, and one won third place at the Career and Technical Instruction (CTI) State Leadership Conference on Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Casey Williamson of Jenkins High School earned the top award for his project in Residential Wiring; NaShanda Downs of Johnson High School earned first place for her efforts in Collision Repair, and Bruce Taylor of Groves High School won first place in Career Exploration.
Caroline Robertson, Jenkins High School student, won second place in Early Childhood Education, and Ray-El Gaston from Groves High School took third place in Clinical Skills. Participation awards were presented to Stephanie Snyder in Automotive Technology, Charles Suggs in Public Speaking, and Ashley Overstreet in Job Application and Interview Skills all from Jenkins High School. A total of nine students from Woodville-Tompkins TCI attended the conference.
Woodville-Tompkins CTI coordinators M. Lavonia Bishop and Windell M. Smith received the second place trophy for the Outstanding CTI School in the state. Awards are given to the top three schools scoring a ‘superior’ rating for their support of CTI students as well as their support of the community and school.
