The U. S. Navy has announced that H. V. Jenkins High Schools’ Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) is the most recent recipient of its’ Distinguished Unit Award, the highest recognition that is given to a high school! This makes the cadets one of the best, of over 700 units throughout the U.S.
The Distinguished Unit Award is given annually only to those units that demonstrate the very highest levels of performance. Usually, only the top 20% of all NJROTC units world wide, that meet certain criteria of excellence, are selected.
Selection factors are weighted mostly towards the unit’s annual inspection posture, scholastic achievement, participation in drill and field meets and their overall military performance, community service, school support and academic performance.
The Chief of Naval Education and Training presented the cadets with a certificate and Distinguished Unit 2007-2008 streamer for their unit flag.
