The Savannah-Chatham County Public School Campus Police Department has been granted recertification for successfully meeting state requirements and standards established by the State of Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program.
SCCPSS’ Campus Police Department was initially awarded State of Georgia Law Enforcement Certification at the Summer Conference of the Georgia Chiefs of Police Association (GACP) on July 22, 2003, after having demonstrated through on-site assessment, its commitment to law enforcement excellence by meeting all applicable standards. That initial certification is set to expire on July 22, 2008.
In April 2008, a team of assessors once again evaluated the department’s compliance with all applicable standards for the purpose of recertification. This month, SCCPSS Campus Police Department received confirmation from the Georgia Chiefs of Police Association that their department has been granted recertification by the standards committee which is comprised of Municipal Police Staff from across the state.
“Campus Police remained committed to providing a level of service deserving of our schools and community. Gaining recertification demonstrates accountability and our continued commitment in support of our school district,” says Ulysses Bryant, Campus Police Chief.
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School Campus Police Department is one of only two Campus Police Departments in Georgia to receive this certification.
