The National Education Association (NEA), the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE), and the Chatham Association of Educators (CAE) present Cat A-Van Reading Tours at Thunderbolt and Butler Elementary Schools on Thursday, March 6, 2008.
NEA’s Cat-A-Van tours will make a stop in Chatham County to bring the gift of reading to some SCCPSS students. The tour will provide books and $1,000 to both schools to purchase additional library books for their students. Representatives from all three organizations will make the check presentation to both schools during their scheduled tours.
The Cat-A-Van Reading Tour will visit Thunderbolt Elementary School from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and Butler Elementary School from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
During the cat trek, the tours will visit more than 18 cities in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas to provide more than 12,000 books and cash grants valued at $100,000, thanks to a generous donations from NEA's Books Across America, a program that provides book donations and financial backing to public school libraries in need.
