The State Division of Communities in Schools recently honored the Eco Warriors of Savannah Corporate Academy’s Performance Learning Center for their dedication to academics, community and self betterment in a special presentation. The presentation, held in Atlanta, recognized the students for their service learning project “Realizing the Dream,” a mosaic made of recycled trash glass that depicts Ella Fitzgerald, Rosa Parks and Langston Hughes.
The Eco Warriors, an academic honor group consisting of eight students; Kiera Thomas, KeRena Johnson, James Fadgen, Charles Williams, Cardell Parker, Tiffany Serrano-Silva, Gregory Parker and Elijah West; volunteer around areas of the Savannah community picking up trash and recycling the items collected.
Communities in Schools presented the group with a plaque for their mosaic. Both the mosaic and the plaque now stand in their Atlanta Office Building. For more information on the Eco Warriors, contact Mrs. Sukkestad at Savannah Corporate Academy at 912-303-3494.
