Seven SCCPSS seniors have been chosen to participate in the 2008 Medical-High School Preceptorship Program. This year’s program will take place on Tuesday, May 13 through Thursday, May 15, 2008. This unique program is a collaborative medical internship partnership between the SCCPSS and the Georgia Medical Society. It is conducted in cooperation with Memorial University Medical and St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System.
The Preceptorship Program is designed to give high school seniors three days of internship with local physicians specializing in areas from neurosurgery to radiation oncology. The seven seniors will shadow the physicians as they perform in operating rooms, in doctors’ offices and go on hospital rounds.
This year’s program will begin with an opening session and luncheon on Tuesday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. on Memorial Health University’s Medical Center Campus in the Hoskins Research Center and conclude with the closing session and luncheon on Thursday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph’s/Candler Board Room.
Principals of each of the seven high schools were asked to select a student participant based on established criteria. The best and brightest students were chosen to participate in the program. The participants in this year’s program are as followed:
