A team of two students from Windsor Elementary won the regional spring 2008 Georgia Stock Market Game.

Ernest Polite and Jackson Hahn, fifth grade students at Windsor Elementary ended up with a portfolio value of $105,071 which earned them first place in the region. They competed against elementary, middle school, and high school teams.

The team attended the Georgia Awards Luncheon in Atlanta, along with their advisors/gifted teachers, Georgia Edwards and Catherine Robinson, gifted specialists. The students were awarded with a certificate and T-shirts.

The Georgia Council on Economic Education brings the Stock Market Game to students across the state of Georgia. Each year over 40,000 students in public and independent schools in the state participate in this competition. The competition brings financial literacy and economic education to schools. Students play the game for ten weeks each fall and spring, starting off with a hypothetical portfolio of $100,000. They must research publicly traded companies on the Internet, read business publications and select stocks. The team with the highest portfolio value for each region at the end of the ten weeks wins.

For more information, please contact Georgia Edwards or Catherine Robinson at 961-3353.
