The Data and Information Division empowers all students, teachers, and staff personnel by providing access to technology and information needed for teaching and learning, planning, decision-making, and evaluation. The division has been entrusted with providing technology leadership and ensuring the effective and efficient use of all district technological resources.
The Data and Information Division’s Chief Officer currently has eight direct reports: two senior directors, three directors, two managers, and one Webmaster. One of the senior directors is in charge of accountability and assessment services. This area focuses on data mining, coordinating district and state testing, AYP verifications, program research and evaluations, and applying statistical analysis on testing data for the schools to use. The second senior director is responsible for administrative/business systems, technology support, telecommunications, and imaging/records management. This area focuses on supporting and maintaining the human resources and financial system through programming, database administration, records imaging management, customer training, and customer support. In addition, it is responsible for deploying and supporting technology at the schools (computers, printers, infrastructure cabling, phones, and peripherals).
Of the three directors, one is in charge of instructional technology. The Instructional Technology Department is responsible for coordinating, organizing and facilitating the effective use and integration of technology within the schools in order to increase student performance. Currently the instructional technicians install, train, and troubleshoot instructional and administrative software. The second director manages the student information system. This area supports and maintains student demographics, grades, schedules, programs, courses, as well as provides schools, state, and federal agencies with reports. The third director oversees the network and engineering area. This area supports and maintains the technology helpdesk, network operation center, network electronic infrastructure, systems infrastructure, Internet access, network security, district email, and specialized network-based applications.
Finally, one manager oversees the print shop and mail operations. This area is responsible for providing the schools with high volume printing in the areas of books, manuals, brochures, forms, and the delivery of internal and external mail. The second manager oversees technology level projects. This person is responsible for establishing project methodology, overseeing division projects, and building district teams to ensure broad participation for successful outcomes. The last direct report is the Web Master. This person is tasked with maintaining the district public Web site, intranet Web site, video multimedia clips, and portal services.
In all, there are a total of 88 full time employees working within the division.
