The Accounting Department provides accounting services for the Board of Education. This includes maintaining the general ledger, bank reconciliations, grant reporting, and billings to outside parties (for grant drawdowns and reimbursements). In addition, the Accounting Department oversees the capital assets and student activity funds.
One of the most significant accomplishments of the Accounting Department has been the production of a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) beginning with the year ended June 30, 1994. The Board has received Certificates of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the years ended June 30, 1994 through June 30, 2003. In addition, the Board has received Certificates of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) for the years ended June 30, 1994 through June 30, 2003.
