The Savannah Chatham County Public School System has tentatively been approved to offer the GaTAPP program for August 2010 for current SCCPSS teachers only.
GaTAPP is a certification only program which will allow you to be in the classroom and earn a clear, renewable teaching certificate.
The program will offer the following options for certification:
- Art
- Business education
- English
- Foreign Language
- Health/PE
- Mathematics
- Science
- Special Education general curriculum
To become eligible for the program you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a teacher under contract with SCCPSS (Substitute teachers and paraprofessionals are not eligible until hired in a teaching position)
- Bachelor's degree with a 2.5 from an accredited college or university
- Pass all three sections of the GACE basic skills exam or meet one of the following exemptions: SAT score of 1000, ACTscore of 43 (English and Math), GRE score of 1030 (verbal and quantitative) or earned a Master's degree
- Pass BOTH sections of the GACE content area exam of the teaching field for which you are seeking certification (must be one of the areas mentioned above)
