Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (GaTAPP)

The Savannah Chatham County Public School System has tentatively been approved to offer the GaTAPP program for August 2010 for current SCCPSS teachers only.

GaTAPP is a certification only program which will allow you to be in the classroom and earn a clear, renewable teaching certificate.

The program will offer the following options for certification:

  • Art
  • Business education
  • English
  • Foreign Language
  • Health/PE
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Special Education general curriculum

To become eligible for the program you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a teacher under contract with SCCPSS (Substitute teachers and paraprofessionals are not eligible until hired in a teaching position)
  • Bachelor's degree with a 2.5 from an accredited college or university
  • Pass all three sections of the GACE basic skills exam or meet one of the following exemptions: SAT score of 1000, ACTscore of 43 (English and Math), GRE score of 1030 (verbal and quantitative) or earned a Master's degree
  • Pass BOTH sections of the GACE content area exam of the teaching field for which you are seeking certification (must be one of the areas mentioned above)
