Information on H1N1

Whether someone is sick in the hospital or sick at home with influenza like illness, the precautions that should be taken in schools are the same - good hand and cough hygiene, etc. The exception might be close exposure to an individual at high risk - or a significant cluster of illnesses in a single classroom.  We know H1N1 IS circulating in our community (not just our schools) and expect it will continue.  Sometimes sending a note home to one group of students might lead parents to falsely believe the risk is only for those students and only at school.  Messaging to parents and families should emphasize shared responsibilities for reinforcing messages to children about hand and cough hygiene.
