SCCPSS is proud to name Jakeysha Prescott, a senior at Groves High School, as the Superintendent’s Student of the Month for January.
Jakeysha was selected for her outstanding academic performance and being chosen as one of two semi-finalists for the 2007 National Achievement® Scholarship Program.
The daughter of Jessie and Brendolyn Prescott, Jakeysha is an honor student enrolled in the IB program at Groves.
During her academic career, Jakeysha has received countless awards and accolades. She was named a Rotary Scholar and Wofford Scholar nominee. She was also a Georgia Merit recipient and an Armstrong Atlantic State University Mathematics Scholar.
Active in several clubs and organizations, Jakeysha still finds time to dedicate hours to community service. She is most proud of the time she spends assisting elderly in the nursing home.
When asked what has motivated her to achieve academic success, Jakeysha said: “…I am motivated by the high expectations of my parents, friends, teachers and my visions of a successful future.”
The Superintendent’s Student of the Month program recognizes individual students at the monthly board meetings who have excelled in the area of academics, leadership and community service. Jakeysha will receive a plaque award, a $100 savings bond from Wachovia and special recognition from Dr. Thomas Lockamy at the board meeting on Wednesday, January 10.
