The Superintendent's Student of the Month for November is Ciara Hodges, a fourth grade student at Marshpoint Elementary School. Ciara was selected for her outstanding academic performance and exceptional conduct.
Ciara is a high honor roll student. She's an avid reader and enjoys participating in the Accelerated Reader Program. Actively involved in extra-curricular activities, Ciara is a member of the chorus, a piano student, a cheerleader, and she enjoys taking part in school plays. Just last year, Ciara was the lead in the 3rd grade play.
Described by her teachers as a great role model and a leader, Ciara consistently exhibits model behavior and strive to motivate her peers to do the same.
The daughter of Walter and Patricia Hodges, Ciara has overcome a number of obstacles in her young life but has managed to emerge into a strong, independent and well-balanced student.
When asked what has motivated her to achieve academic success, Ciara said, "Each and Everyday I walked into my classroom thinking in my head that I am going to reach my goal by doing my best."
The Superintendent's Student of the Month program recognizes individual students at the monthly board meetings who have excelled in the area of academics, leadership, conduct and community service. Ciara will receive a plaque award, $100 savings bond from Wachovia and special recognition from Dr. Lockamy at the board meeting on Wednesday, November 1.
