The Superintendent’s Student of the Month is Jamar Rawls, a sophomore at Early College.  Jamar was selected for his exceptional academic performance.

Jamar is an honor roll student with a 94.3 GPA. He’s a model student who has risen to the challenges presented to him by Early College’s rigorous curriculum and non-traditional model. His teachers believe that his hard work and dedication are the reasons for his success.

An active member of the community, Jamar has involved himself in service projects through his church and the Ronald McDonald House. Jamar is also an Academic Achievement honoree and a member of Savannah State Honors Program.

“As a counselor I look forward to watching Jamar develop both academically and socially. The dedication he has shown to our dual enrollment process and his willingness to extend himself beyond his academics into community involvement shows signs of character and motivation,” says Anne Weisel, Counselor at Early College.

When asked what motivates him to strive for academic success, Jamar said…”To get into college and to be successful; most importantly, to help take care of my family and help provide support.”

The Superintendent’s Student of the Month program recognizes individual students at the monthly board meetings who have excelled in the area of academics, leadership, and community service.  Jamar will be recognized by Dr. Lockamy and presented with a plaque award and a $100 savings bond at the regular board meeting on Wednesday, December 10.
