Book Check-in and Check-Out:

• Students check in and out their own books.
  
  
• All kindergarten students may check out 1 book, 1st - 5th grade students may check out 2 books.
  
  
• Books should be returned promptly to ensure future book checkouts.

Accelerated Reader and STAR Reading:

• Students take the STAR Reading Test to determine their ZPD range (the level at which they should be successful readers). This test is administered 3 times a year to track students' progress.
  
  
• Students participate in the Accelerated Reader program in which they can earn points by reading Accelerated Reader books and taking computer generated tests.
  
  
• Students are encouraged to maintain an 80 average or better on AR tests.
  
  
• The media center has over 3000 Accelerated Reader Tests.
