Dear Parents/Guardians,                                

Please keep in mind the following if your child has to miss any days from school this school year;

• The school board’s new attendance policy is clearly defined on pages 20-21 of the Student Code of Conduct that was sent home the first week of school.
  
  
• All doctor visits will be excused with a dated note from your MD.
  
  
• Documented military leave is an excused absence.
  
  
• Death of an immediate family member and observance of religious holidays are excused with a note from parent.
  
  
• All excuses must be turned in to your child’s homeroom teacher the day the student returns to school.  Office personnel will not ask you for an excuse; it is the parent’s responsibility.
  
  
• Any student who misses more than 5 unexcused absences for the school year is considered truant.  On the 7th unexcused absence a school social worker referral will be made.
  
  
• All student excuses will be treated impartially and reviewed by an attendance committee consisting of school administration and teachers.
