Parent/Student Tutorial

Dear Parents,

Robert W. Groves High School is pleased to offer a Math 1 tutorial program for both parents and students, starting January 10th, 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The purpose of this program is to give parents and students a better understanding of the new Math 1 curriculum that the state of Georgia has implemented. Parents and students will be given tips on how to work through this rigorous course, and will be shown resources they can utilize for math support both at home and at school.

Students must earn a Math 1 credit along with their other required core courses to become a sophomore. Don’t let one missing credit keep your child from reaching his or her goal of becoming a sophomore and graduating with their class of 2012.

If your child is having difficulties or just doesn’t quite understand Math 1, the Saturday program will help guide students and parents beyond the classroom. The three hour Saturday sessions will continue as needed. The first session will begin at 9:00 a.m. with an orientation of Math 1 and the new Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). Parents and students then will be directed to a specific classroom to work with a Math 1 teacher.

If you have any questions, please contact the Groves High School Career & College Coach, Ms. Loftin, at 965-2520. We hope that you take advantage of this opportunity. This program will provide valuable insight into Math 1 and equip your family with skills to support your student on the path to success in high school.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Linda Olson
