Beginning 2010-2011, Derenne Middle School will house the Medical, Allied Health, and Biomedical Research Specialty Program.
Medicine, Allied Health and Biomedical Specialty Program/Career Pathway Collaborative
Application requirements for 6 - 8 grade applicants
- Grades: All grades 80 or above (previous year-end, current year to date)
- Test Scores: Minimum 825 on CRCT Reading, Math, and Science
- 6th Stanine or higher on ITBS Reading, Math, and Science (or comparable norm-referenced test)
- Conduct: Satisfactory (S) or better overall conduct grade; no more than 2 level-II violations and no level-III violations
- No more than 5 unexcused absences; meet district attendance policy and be a resident in Chatham County
- Parent and Student must sign a program participation contract.
Additional information
- Students accepted into the program shall maintain a 3.0 average in all academic classes.
- Students incurring any level-II violations shall be reviewed for removal from the program.
- Students incurring any level-III violations shall be removed from the program.
- Students whose academic performance falls below program entry and maintenance requirements shall be placed on probation for one semester. A standard program probation letter shall be presented to parent and student for review in a required parent conference. Students who do not meet program requirements after the probationary period shall be referred to the school principal for removal from the program.
