Upon receiving a referral, a multi-disciplinary evaluation is begun including:
▪ Social, developmental, medical case history
▪ Psychological evaluation
▪ Educational testing
▪ Psychiatric consultation
▪ Speech/Language evaluation (if appropriate)
When the evaluation is completed, a special education placement committee meeting is scheduled. At this meeting, evaluation results are shared and the committee determines the most appropriate placement for the child in the least restrictive environment. Parents are vital members of the placement committee and are expected to take an active role in the placement decisions for their child.
