A Friends of Oatland (FOO) offers many great benefits such as free admission to the Oatland Island Wildlife Center, discounts on special programs such as summer camp and special discounts in our gift shop.  Members are also invited to special events and exhibit sneak peeks.

Mission of FOO:

To act as a physical and financial support organization for Oatland Island Wildlife Center in order to assist the Savannah-Chatham County Schools and Board of Education in preserving the ecosystem and education programs, and maintaining the visitor facility as a community asset.

Goals of FOO:

1. To publicize and promote the center and build support for it in the community, including corporate sponsors and support from governments including state and federal agencies.

2. To undertake fund-raising activities, including grants and sponsorships, to support special projects: i.e., renovate existing and creating new exhibits, historical displays, publications, etc.

3. To organize a corps of volunteers to assist the staff in its activities, as well as facilitating visitor services, including gift shop management and generally serving as a “booster group” for Oatland Island Education Center.
