| The Beach Institute was opened to educate the newly freed slaves in 1867. Over the years, Alfred Ely Beach has become an "icon" of the Savannah-Chatham County community. Some of her most notable alumni have gone to become President of Savannah State College, Georgia State Senator, Mayor of Savannah, and Dean of a major university in New England. Currently, Beach offers a strong academic program that includes the district's only CISCO networking academy. Students who complete this program are eligible to take the CISCO Certified Network Associate examination. In addition, our Health Professions program has a long and rich partnership with Memorial Health University Medical Center and CVS Pharmacy which provides internships for our students. Finally, both of our varsity Basketball teams are the 2004 Regional Champions; the Girls made it to the elite eight and the Boys made it to the final four in the State Playoffs. |
