The Board of Public Education for the City of Savannah and the County of Chatham has tentatively adopted a 2023 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 10.00 percent.
All concerned citizens are invited to the third and final public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Jessie Collier DeLoach Board Room of the Whitney Administrative Complex, 2 Laura Avenue, Savannah, Georgia on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 17.631 mills, an increase 1.603 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate would be no more than 16.028 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $157.09 (annually) and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $160.30 (annually).
