Savannah-Chatham County Public School System

 The Hearing Office

The Savannah-Chatham County School System is committed to providing fair and equitable treatment to students in disciplinary matters. The primary mission of the Student Hearing Office is to ensure compliance with the district’s disciplinary policies as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct (PDF).

This is accomplished through coordinating and enforcing the school district’s efforts to maintain safe, healthy learning environments in each of its schools.  The Student Hearing Office also serves as a liaison between the regular schools and the alternative schools during disciplinary action.
The Student Hearing Office communicates with other school districts regarding placement of students, attends district placement meetings, as well as develops and maintains effective working relationships with hearing officers, local attorneys, community organizations, and agencies.

The Hearing Office also coordinates and conducts student disciplinary hearings for students who are recommended for long-term-suspension or expulsion.
