The Wellness Center

In partnership with the SCCPSS Counseling Services Department, the SCCPSS Wellness Center will implement strategies and activities designed to improve the wellness and well-being of students, faculty, and staff within the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. The center aims to help these individuals develop the skills necessary for leading healthy and productive lives by addressing their mental and physical health needs through training and education.

Specifically, the Wellness Center provides the following services:

1. Serious Threat Assessments
2. Individual Counseling
3. Group Counseling
4. Employee Consultations
5. Crisis Intervention Support
6. Employee- Embedded Professional Development
7. District-wide Employee Wellness Learning Day Activities
8. Clinical Supervision to Professional School Counselors seeking credentials as a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
9. Collaboration with community organizations to support use of trauma-informed and culturally responsive strategies to ensure inclusive and effective programming related to wellness and well-being.

The center's priorities will include:

1. Offering information and resources to students, faculty, and staff via quarterly workshops, newsletters, and various communication methods.
2. Assisting in the administration of wellness and mental health assessments for students, faculty, and staff.
3. Providing resources, support, and information using trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate strategies to promote overall well-being.

Although the Wellness Center will work alongside schools and counseling departments, it will offer services that extend beyond the typical scope of school counseling and may include more intensive therapeutic interventions.

Even during a virtual learning experience, SCCPSS School Counselors recognize and will continue to follow all legal and ethical guidelines for confidentiality. However, students and parents should be aware that virtual counseling sessions may pose potential limitations based on the electronic communication platforms available to both the student and counselor. To minimize these limitations, SCCPSS School Counselors will continue to utilize district approved technology resources such as Teams and Office 365 applications to provide services for students.
