Request to Conduct Research

Thank you for your interest in conducting research within the Savannah- Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS). To begin the process, all prospective researchers must complete and submit the Request for Permission to Conduct Research form for review and consideration with all required supporting documentation. All research must receive approval before any research activities can take place.

Research request forms must be submitted by the 15th day of the month for the months: January, February, March, April, June, July, August, September, October and November (no requests will be reviewed in either May or December). Late submissions will be reviewed in the following month. The typical turnaround time for requests is 2-3 weeks with notification received prior to the next submission deadline.

The district supports research that promotes educational improvement. We encourage research that enhances student achievement and aligns with SCCPSS’s mission and strategic goals.

Research proposals are evaluated based on:

  • Safeguarding the privacy, rights, and time of students, parents, and staff
  • Educational relevance and alignment with district priorities.
  • Support/approval from a district leader or principal.
  • Sound methodology and compliance with legal requirements, including FERPA.

We look forward to partnering with researchers who are committed to advancing education within SCCPSS. Please review our application and policy documents to ensure your proposal meets the district's standards.
