School Wellness
A local school wellness policy is a written document that guides a local educational agency or school district’s efforts to create supportive school nutrition and physical activity environments.
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, under the guidance of the Wellness Committee, has developed a wellness policy that is reviewed by the board every year. Please go to the Board Policy Manual and reference Policy Number(s) EEE, EEE – R1, and EEE – E1.
Wellness Committee
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System believes wellness of staff and students is critical to an effective school and part of a successful community. Healthy children do better in school - from attendance and behavior to academics and overall performance. The Wellness Committee works with the district to help school communities support wellness and academic achievement. The Wellness Committee meets 4 times a year and is comprised of parents/guardians, teachers, school food/nutrition service professionals, health/physical education professionals, mental health professionals, administrators and members of the larger community. If you are interested in being involved with wellness efforts for the district please contact School Nutrition.
