Student Spotlight: Audrey Large, May Howard Elementary School
Updated

Audrey Large: I like to help. I'm helpful. It just makes me feel good.

Anna Pierce: She's always the one that is getting everyone else to be included and to be a friend to Everyone.

Ken Slats: A saying comes to mind. A heart of gold. That's May Howard Elementary School eighth grader, Audrey Large. She's a role model walking the Hawk Halls.

Anna Pierce: She is absolutely an example of a quiet leader and someone that doesn't have to be loud or speaking all the time. She is a great listener.

Audrey Large: That's really important because, like, if somebody has, like something going on and they want to tell you about it, you need to listen and it might make them feel better.

Anna Pierce: And I think that's one thing that she's showing in our program, is that it doesn't have to be the talker to be the leader, that she is there as a listener more than anything else.

Ken Slats: Audrey is a high flying Hawk on high honor roll. She's also on the pit crew, welcoming students to school each morning. It's part of the Leader in Me program.

Audrey Large: Leader In Me is like a lesson we take, and it tells you how to be a leader. There's this tree that they have. It's like a poster. They have it in a couple places in the school, and it has like a couple habits that you memorize and stuff that we go over every single day.

Anna Pierce: She comes in every day with a smile on her face.

Audrey Large: I don't know, just something about helping them and like, the little kids and stuff.

Dr. Denise Watts: Please help me congratulate Audrey Large, the Superintendent's Student of the Month for August.

Anna Pierce: Audrey will be successful because she has the drive, the ambition, the talent, the heart, and she also has the support of her school and her family behind her to do anything that she wants to do in this world.

Ken Slats: Audrey Large, our Superintendent's Student of the Month.   With your Student Spotlight, I'm Ken Slats.
