Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods has named eight Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools for 2025.  AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level learning at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam may receive college credit.

The 2025 SCCPSS AP Honor Schools are named in eight categories, based on the results of 2024 AP courses and exams.  SCCPSS schools receiving recognition include:

There were 301 Advanced Placement Honor Schools named this year in 104 Georgia school districts. “Georgia's 2025 AP Honor Schools exemplify our commitment to providing students with rigorous, high-quality educational opportunities that prepare them for success beyond high school,” Superintendent Woods said. “I commend these schools for their dedication to academic excellence and equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in college, careers, and life. I am delighted the number of AP Honor Schools and school districts has risen again this year – a continued testament to the commitment of Georgia public education to expand opportunities for all Georgia students.”

”Our district has made remarkable strides in Advanced Placement achievement, with SCCPSS schools earning 19 AP Honor School awards this year—up from 14 awards last year!” says Jennifer Rine, SCCPSS Program Specialist for Gifted, Advanced Content and Supplemental Support Programs.  “Even more exciting, we have new schools joining the list of honorees this year – Groves High, Savannah Classical, and Savannah High - showcasing the continued growth and commitment to academic excellence across the district.”

This incredible accomplishment reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and administrators in fostering rigorous and equitable learning environments. We are extremely proud of their achievements and the positive momentum this brings to our district.
