Long Range Facility Plan: Boundary Adjustments To Be Discussed

Long Range Facility Plan: Boundary Adjustments To Be Discussed
Updated

Beginning in school year 2026-2027, as part of the SCCPSS Long Range Facility Plan, SCCPSS will make additional facility adjustments and modifications to attendance zones in response to the growth in Western Chatham County.  These adjustments will allow for transportation efficiency, increased safety and security, capacity management, and more instruction time for students.   A thorough Facilities Condition Assessment has been performed providing insight into the effects of deferred maintenance, capital renewal, educational suitability, and technology readiness.

Population shifts have influenced school zone attendance boundaries for years and now is no exception. Immediate and future trends, along with building conditions, will influence capacity levels at schools.  This plan continues our work to “right size” our schools by reducing overcrowding at some schools, while improving capacity levels at others. The District seeks to offer more sustainable and economical operations that provide better utilization of educational space and improved school transportation services.

To keep our families informed, SCCPSS is holding a series of meetings to share the proposed boundary changes and gather feedback from constituents.  These meetings will provide crucial insights and information regarding next year’s relocation and future adjustments to attendance boundaries.  It's an opportunity for parents and staff to engage, ask questions, and be informed about these recommended changes impacting our school community and attendance zones for next school year.

All meetings are informational.  Modifications to any attendance zone recommendation are subject to final approval by the Board of Public Education.

We encourage our families and stakeholders to attend the meeting that best reflects their school assignment so that we can ensure everyone is well-informed and involved in the decision-making process. Please mark your calendars!  We look forward to seeing you there.
