More than a Dozen Groves High SkillsUSA Students Headed to State Competition

Twelve Groves High School students placed among the top 3 finishers in competitions at the Skills USA Region 7 Championship in Waycross on January 10, 2025.  That means they will compete at the SkillsUSA Georgia State Leadership and Skills Conference (SLSC) in Atlanta on February 20^th.

The students who have advanced to state competition and the competition category in which they advanced is listed below:

Julien Lovett – 1^st Place, Tshirt Design

Faith Scott – 1^st Place, Cosmetology

Shaniya Snowden – 2^nd Place, Extemporaneous Speaking

Patrick Horton, Jr – 3^rd Place, First Aid/CPR

Jaylin Hunter – 3^rd Place, Pin Design

7 Person Quiz Bowl Team = Gabrielle Avinger, Ahmasia Castle, Caliah Douglas, Orett Drummond, Jalen Lovett, Cecily Swann, John Swann – 3^rd Place, Quiz Bowl Team

Student Matthew Livingood will also compete at the State Conference.
