More than a Dozen Groves High SkillsUSA Students Headed to State Competition

Twelve Groves High School students placed among the top 3 finishers in competitions at the Skills USA Region 7 Championship in Waycross on January 10, 2025.  That means they will compete at the SkillsUSA Georgia State Leadership and Skills Conference (SLSC) in Atlanta on February 20th.

The students who have advanced to state competition and the competition category in which they advanced is listed below:

Julien Lovett – 1st Place, Tshirt Design

Faith Scott – 1st Place, Cosmetology

Shaniya Snowden – 2nd Place, Extemporaneous Speaking

Patrick Horton, Jr – 3rd Place, First Aid/CPR

Jaylin Hunter – 3rd Place, Pin Design

7 Person Quiz Bowl Team = Gabrielle Avinger, Ahmasia Castle, Caliah Douglas, Orett Drummond, Jalen Lovett, Cecily Swann, John Swann – 3rd Place, Quiz Bowl Team

Student Matthew Livingood will also compete at the State Conference.
