Each year, the Georgia Department of Education EL (English Learner) Language Programs recognizes one exemplary EL student as nominated from each school district or independent charter school in Georgia with a Certificate of Recognition signed by Superintendent Richard Woods.

This spring, the recognized student from SCCPSS is New Hampstead High School Class of 2025 Graduate Daniela Alejandra Medina Gonzalez. She was presented her certificate at the school’s end of year awards ceremony last month.

In order to qualify for the recognition, the student must be currently enrolled in a Georgia Public High School as a senior and on track for graduation in that school year.  The student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and demonstrate leadership through participation in extracurricular activities, sports, clubs, employment, or community service, etc.  The nominated student much exhibit exemplary character, outstanding behavior, and regular attendance.
