SCCPSS Celebrates with a Ribbon Cutting for the Pulaski K-8 School Expansion
Sheila Blanco

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, district and school staff, students, Board Members, the Superintendent, and our Military partners from Hunter Army Airfield gathered at the former Pulaski Elementary School for a ribbon cutting.  The ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of the middle grades expansion converting the facility to a K-8 school.

The addition of grades 6 - 8 to Pulaski Elementary completes the transition to a K-8 this year.  This conversion has long been a goal of the District, in conjunction with our partners at Hunter Army Airfield.  This will provide a consistent learning space through middle school for our students, many of whom are part of military families.

The addition of 12 classrooms for 6th through 8th graders have increased the size of the school to approximately 150,000 square feet.  The new wing also features art and music spaces, courtyards for gardening, labs for science and CTAE, and a gymnasium.  The addition was completed at a cost of $33.9 million with ESPLOST funds.
