Twenty-eight SCCPSS STAR Students and Teachers Recognized at 2025 Luncheon
On Tuesday, February 11th, the Kiwanis Club of Savannah hosted the 67th annual Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program at the Scottish Rite Freemasons Hall in Savannah. The event, which is sponsored and administered by the PAGE and the PAGE Foundation, serves to honor high-achieving students and the teachers who have made the greatest impact on their academic journeys.
Since its inception in 1958, the STAR program has recognized over 30,000 students and their teachers in the state of Georgia, highlighting the importance of academic excellence and the role educators play in shaping their students' success. To qualify for the 2025 STAR nomination, graduating high school seniors must have achieved the highest score on a single test date of the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on GPA. These exceptional students then choose a teacher to share in the recognition, honoring their invaluable influence on their academic achievements.
This year’s ceremony featured Kinder Morgan’s Vice President, Allen Fore, who delivered the keynote address. The event, underwritten by Kinder Morgan, emphasized the significance of community support for education and the vital role businesses play in fostering the next generation of leaders.
The STAR program is a special tradition in Georgia seeking to showcase academic excellence among public and private high school students.Students recognized as the overall county winner receive the opportunity to continue to regional and state level competition which includes an essay and interview.
The Chatham County event is held each year by the Kiwanis Club of Savannah. Corporate sponsors of the event include the Professional Association of Georgia Educators and the PAGE Foundation, Kinder Morgan, Reese & Company, Bernard Williams, Hussey Gay Bell, and Rody’s Audio Warehouse.
