Woodville-Tompkins Teacher Named Georgia Business and Computer Science Teacher of the Year

Joyce Stevens, a Business Teacher at Woodville-Tompkins Technical and Career High School has been recognized by the Georgia Association for Career & Technical Education (GACTE) as the state’s Teacher of the Year for Business and Computer Science. The honor was announced at the organization’s Summer Conference last month.
Ms. Stevens was proud to be among 80 career, technical, and agricultural education (CTAE) educators who were honored by GACTE for their outstanding contributions to education and student success. She says, “This recognition reflects not only my commitment to teaching but also the continued support of my students, colleagues, administrators, and the entire SCCPSS community. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent our district and to advocate for excellence in Business and Computer Science education.”
The organization’s 79th Summer Conference was held June 9-11 at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center and was attended by over 1,300 CTAE educators from around the State. Nominated by their division peers and selected by the GACTE Awards Committee, each nominee was presented with an award naming them as their division’s 2026 Teacher of Year-Georgia Business Education Agriculture (GBEA) nominee. Each division recipient was then considered as a nominee for the corresponding state award.
Joyce Stevens holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Human Resources Management from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
