Oatland Island Wildlife Center has a variety of opportunities for individuals from individual events to monthly commitments. We welcome anyone over the age of 18 to apply for our Adult Volunteer Program. However, Oatland Island does not provide community service in relation to legal and probationary requirements.
Adult Volunteer Positions
Guest Services
Multiple positions are available within guest services from assisting at the front desk in the Tony Cope Education and Visitors Center to attending the admissions booth.
Horticulture
Do you have a green thumb? We need individuals to assist with general gardening duties on the property.
Facilities
We have opportunities for you to work on a variety of projects and small tasks throughout the property.
Trail Docent
Do you enjoy interacting with the public? Then learn more about Oatland's animal collection and become a trail/exhibit docent. You will use artifacts, games, etc... to enhance our visitors experience at Oatland.
Animal Care Volunteer
Do you enjoy animals and hard work? Come help our animal care staff with anything from diet preparation to enrichment to helping in the barnyard. Good physical condition required.
Adult O.W.L. Volunteer
Assist with Oatland Wildlife Leaders Program (a year-long program geared for teens to learn more about Oatland, wildlife and conservation). This position requires background check and mandatory training.
How to become an Adult Volunteer
Please complete an online application and our Volunteer Services Coordinator will be in touch with applicants to talk about where you’d be a good fit.
All adult applicants will be required to attend a mandatory training session and may be subject to a background check prior to becoming a volunteer at Oatland Island Wildlife Center.
