Amphibians of Oatland Island

Published on:

Amphibians are cold-blooded vertebrates that don’t have scales and need water or a moist environment to survive. Most amphibians go through a metamorphosis where they begin life completely in water and eventually evolve into land dwelling creatures. The collection of amphibians inside the Tony Cope Education and Visitors Center at Oatland Island Wildlife Center are both native and non-native, or invasive, to our ecosystem.
